Benedicta Deogratias

 

Benedicta Deogratias obtained her bachelor degree in European Law and master degree in Globalisation and Law. Her research focused on the human rights dimensions of marital captivity and studied how human rights law can be used to address this phenomenon.

Benedicta Deogratias obtained her bachelor degree in European Law at Maastricht and master degree in Globalisation and Law at Maastricht University in 2013. During her studies she focused on specialising in human rights law and continued to do so when she joined the Law Faculty at Maastricht University in 2014 to start her PhD on marital captivity. Her research focused on the human rights dimensions of marital captivity and studied how human rights law can be used to address this phenomenon. Her areas of expertise include human rights law, women’s rights and violence against women. She obtained her doctorate in 201 and has also in the course of her research activities on marital captivity, produced a short documentary titled ‘Gevangen in het huwelijk’.
