Shaf Choudhury is a British freelance journalist and communication educator. He is passionate about human rights and is partnering with the Hague Peace Projects to promote human rights news. In addition to his writing for JPI Urban Europe, he teaches business communication and academic writing at Erasmus University Rotterdam. He graduated from King’s College London with a bachelor’s degree in Geography in 2010 and a obtained master’s degree from Erasmus University Rotterdam in International Relations and Global History in 2016.


Since 2016, Bangladesh has undergone a surge of violence spanning attacks targeting secular journalists, bloggers, academic elite, LGTBTQI groups, tourists and religious minorities. Together with Bonya Ahmad and Parvez Alam we will talk about the recent situation, about how the Bangladeshi diaspora in Europe continue to write, and what is needed for a more free, just and peaceful society.
